Another Easter has come and gone, and it appears it was a good holiday for many. The Bureau County Republican attended a host of Easter egg hunts in the area, and as always, the children who participated — their parents and grandparents too, seemed like they were having a great time. Check out some Easter egg hunts in today’s BCR on Pages 1 and 8.
Sometimes, I think we forget how much work, time, energy and money it takes to orchestrate events like a simple Easter egg hunt. If you happen to see any of the folks who helped to organize these special holiday events in your hometown, please make sure you give them a well-deserved pat on the back.
I think spring has finally sprung! With the warmer weather throughout the weekend, I could almost see the tulip leaves growing before my eyes. It won’t be long before our yards will be a spectacle of colors and scents — welcome signs of the season that spring brings forth.
I also had the absolute amazing opportunity to watch a calf being born this past weekend. Wow! Talk about putting life into perspective! Keep a look out for those baby animals. It sure makes your heart smile.
No more waiting! I’ve had countless folks ask me about the BCR’s Spring 2013 edition of Illinois Valley Living, and I’m proud to report it is being distributed in and around Bureau County. Haven’t found a copy yet? Come on out and grab your free copy at our office at 800 Ace Road. I think you’re really going to enjoy it. And by the way ... we’re already getting started on the Summer 2013 edition.

I hope you had the chance to attend the two BCR candidates forums held in Princeton and Spring Valley. I was especially impressed with each and every candidate for the four Spring Valley alderman positions. Great folks with their hearts in the right places! Election Day is April 9. Mark your calendars. And remember ... you are important to me and the BCR.
