Their patriotic duty

Phyllis and LaVern Johnson of Walnut prepare to cast early ballots Monday afternoon at the Bureau County Courthouse in Princeton. Early voting will continue this week at the courthouse from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. today, Thursday, and Friday, as well as from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday. Voters can also cast early ballots at Spring Valley City Hall from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. today, Thursday, and Friday.

For those Bureau County voters who are waiting for Election Day to cast their ballots, the polls open at 6 a.m. Tuesday and will remain open until 7 p.m. Among the races to be determined are more than 200 positions on Bureau County village/city boards, school boards, library boards and township boards.
