Bureau Valley North musicians garner wins at IESA contest

WALNUT — Bureau Valley North Music Department attended the IESA’s Solo and Ensemble Contest at Kewanee Wethersfield on March 23. There were 65 events in the contest. Bureau Valley North received 37 first ratings, 26 second ratings and three students received third ratings.

Marissa Mungia, on her drum set solo, and Elijah Lind, on his vocal solo, received perfect scores. Other students who received first ratings were the snare drum trio of Caje Peterson, Jay Edlefson and Marissa Mungia; the saxophone duet of Rhiannon Staker and Kaitlin Mungia; the snare drum duet of Jackson Hanson and Benjamin Jackson; the flute trio of Nicole Stone, Savannah Jensen and Courtney Hoagland; the drum set solo of Jay Edlesfon; the tuba duet of Danny Schoff and Elijah Lind; the vocal duet of Rhiannon Staker and Lexi Ryan; the trombone trio of Dallas Hardy, Connor Johnson and Memphis Fischer; the flute duet of Emily Fordham and Lexi Ryan; the vocal solo of Joshua Monier; the alto sax solo of Ellen Johnson; the trumpet solo of Hunter Schoff; the snare drum solo of Jackson Hanson; the vocal solo of Ellen Johnson; the trumpet solo of Bradley Sierens; the vocal solo of Nicole Stone; the drum set solo of Benjamin Jackson; the trumpet solo of Joshua Monier; the mixed instrument duet of Katie Bannick and Ellen Johnson; the mixed woodwind duet of Jennifer and Jessica Linley; the clarinet solo of Katie Smith; the alto saxophone solo of Rhiannon Staker; the flute solo of Emily Fordham; the clarinet solo of Josie Lind; the drum set solo of Caje Peterson; the clarinet solo of Morgan Vick; the baritone solo of Donald Rios; the tenor saxophone solo of Jessica Linley; the clarinet solo of Sydney Sweenie; the bass clarinet solo of Jennifer Linley; the trumpet solo of Joe Green; the clarinet solo of Dana Macklin; the flute solo of Nicole Stone; and vocal duet of Hannah Atherton and Elijah Lind.

Students who received a second rating were the vocal duet of Allysa Heidenreich and Courtney Hoagland; the saxophone trio of Rhiannon Staker, Stephanie Gripp and Kaitlin Mungia; the trumpet trio of Hunter Schoff, Bradley Sierens and Joshua Monier; the vocal duet of Madie McFadden and Abbey Johnson; the vocal duet of Ellen Johnson and Josie Lind; the double duet of A.J. Hockings, Joshua Monier and Elijah Lind; the double duet of Taylor Butler, Colbie Carl, Nataleigh Nugent and Christen Hurley; the clarinet quintet of Josie Lind, Katie Smith, Dana Macklin, Sydney Sweenie and Jennifer Linley; the vocal solo of Abbey Johnson; the vocal solo of Taylor Butler; the trumpet solo of Katie Bannick; the flute solo of Lexi Jacobs; the vocal solo of Hannah Atherton; the flute solo of Lexi Ryan; the vocal solo of Josie Lind; the tuba solo of Elijah Lind; the saxophone solo of Madison Jackson; the saxophone solo of Stephanie Gripp; the vocal solo of Colbie Carl; the flute solo of Courtney Hoagland; the vocal solo of Madie McFadden; the vocal solo of Lexi Ryan; the saxophone solo of Ian Carl; the vocal solo of Rhiannon Staker and the tuba solo of Danny Schoff.

Students who received third ratings included the flute duet of Savannah Jensen and Courtney Hoagland and the saxophone solo of Kaitlin Mungia.
