Illini Valley Association of Realtors hosts breakfast on fair housing
PERU – The Illini Valley Association of Realtors sponsored a breakfast meeting titled, “Fair Housing: What Every Realtor Needs to Know in 2013.” The event was held at Mario’s Supper Club March 4.
The program focused on Fair Housing Law. Guest speaker A.J. Young, project manager of the Fair Housing Project with Prairie State Legal Services, gave a presentation on what Fair Housing Laws are, when Fair Housing Laws apply, how to avoid violating Fair Housing Laws and how Fair Housing Laws are enforced. The purpose of the program was to raise awareness of housing discrimination issues and what we can do to prevent them.
Additionally, managing brokers of the Illini Valley Association of Realtors were invited to sign a Fair Housing proclamation affirming their offices and sales associates are advocates of the right to own real estate without regard to race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status or national origin of any resident of any community. Participating Managing Brokers include: John Shurts, Century 21 Covered Bridge Realty, Princeton; Judith Rediger, Landmark Realty of Illinois, Princeton; and Vickie Martenson, Success Realty, Princeton.
