Tigresses get 'monkey off our back'
TISKILWA — A corner kick gave the Princeton Tigresses all the offense they would need to record their first win of the soccer season Tuesday.
Mallorie Wheeler scored on a corner kick from Eliza Young in the 39th minute to defeat the Dixon Duchesses 1-0 at the Tiskilwa soccer pitch. Junior keeper Kelly Schmidt pitched the shutout on goal.
The win and the goals were the first for the Tigresses in four contests.
"It wasn't pretty, but it is a goal and a win," PHS coach Ed Young said. "It's great to get the monkey off our back. The first goal of season relieves pressure as does getting first win. We have a very motivated team and they push hard to make things happen. But, forcing play into pressure is not a recipe for success.
