Dana Pomeroy-Link

GREENVILLE, S.C. — Dana Rae Pomeroy-Link, 66, passed away peacefully in the early morning of Saturday, March 30, 2013, in Greenville, S.C.

Born in Princeton on Aug. 26, 1946, to Oren and Geraldine (Snyder) Pomeroy, she lived her formative years in Walnut, graduating from Walnut High School in 1964. Dana spent the next 13 years in Minneapolis, Minn., working in a variety of administrative positions before moving to Juneau, Alaska, in 1978, where she worked for the state of Alaska Department of Administration and Systems Northwest.

She was married to Walt Sinner from May 1982 until his death in November 1985. She found love again and married Dr. Al D. Link on Nov. 29, 1986. The couple moved from Juneau to Florida in August 1988, where they lived in Indialantic and Melbourne before moving north and settling in Greenville, S.C.

Dana was a respected author and free-lance editor. She published "When Someone You Love Has Cancer" in 1996 and co-authored "Walking on the Edge" (1994) with Barry Clausen. Her final book, "A Caregiver’s Guide to Cancer," will be published shortly. She provided editorial services to fiction and non-fiction authors whose works were ultimately published by a number of firms such as Kensington, Zebra, Harlequin, Silhouette, Praeger Press, and Simon and Schuster. She was also a ghost writer for several other books and acted as a mentor on several writers’ websites.

Dana loved maintaining her home with Al and was close to her extended family, taking particular interest in the accomplishments of her niece and nephews. She was a past matron of the Order of Eastern Star. She enjoyed music, playing the piano, keyboard and guitar and loved to dance. She also liked gardening or, as she said, “playing in the dirt.” Dana displayed her kindness and heartfelt love by doing things for others and enjoyed expressing her artistry through a variety of crafts which she primarily donated to charitable organizations or gifted to family and friends. She made long-term friends wherever she lived, and she will be missed by all who knew her.

Dana is survived by her husband, Dr. A.D. Link; her mother, Geraldine (Snyder) Pomeroy of SanTan Valley, Ariz.; her brother, Oren (Alice) Pomeroy of Bloomington; her sisters, Deb Davidson of SanTan Valley, Ariz., and Rhonda Cargill of Chowchilla, Calif.; her niece, Tryphena Cargill; two nephews, James and Joseph Cargill; one aunt, Margaret Birkey of Wyanet; and numerous cousins.

She was preceded in death by her father, Oren D. Pomeroy Jr.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
