Princeton's Madison Menzel blanked the Hall Lady Devils 7-0 Friday in Spring Valley. The freshman southpaw fanned 14 Hall hitters.
Princeton also claimed the F/S matchup over Hall by shutout on the pitching of Maddy Cain.
St. Bede 10, Seneca 0: Lainie Schweickert was perfect Wednesday. The St. Bede senior ace retired all 15 batters she faced in a five-inning, 10-0 victory over Ottawa Marquette Wednesday. She fanned eight batters.
The Lady Bruins (3-3) broke the game open early with seven runs in the first, including a RBI triple by Schweickert. The St. Bede merry-go-round included RBI hits by Olivia Mueller, Barbi Prokup, Christine Daley and Lydia Stariha and a two-run triple by Lexie Miranda.
St. Bede 4, IVC 3: The Lady Bruins outlasted the Grey Ghosts on a controversial game-ending play in nine innings. Schwieckert hit a nubber in front of the plate as Nicole Yaklich raced home. SBA coach Bill Prokup said Yaklich swerved to avoid the tag and the plate umpire called her safe, much to IVC’s chagrin.
Stariha led the Lady Bruins with two hits. including a game-tying RBI double in the ninth. Emmi Christensen homered. Schweickert pitched all nine innings for the win, striking out 13.
Bureau Valley 18, LaMoille/Ohio 1: The Storm scored 18 runs on seven hits and four errors with 10 walks in three innings at-bat Wednesday at Manlius. Anna Phillips led the Storm with two hits and four RBIs with Tori DeWaele and Darcy Kepner driving in two runs each.
Morrison 7, Bureau Valley 1: Caitlyn Scott drove in the Storm’s lone run with a double in the fifth inning on Thursday.
Hall 11, Leland/Earlvile 2: Deidra Whightsil and Stephanie Stocking had four hits each and Kylie Whightsil added two hits as the Lady Devils rolled Thursday at Leland. Heide Nelson was the winning pitcher.
Plano 4, Hall 1: Vanessa Olivares scored a first-half goal for the Lady Devils on the road Monday. The Lady Devils fell 7-0 to Indian Creek on Thursday.
