Two Life Flighted to St. Francis
PRINCETON — A Princeton man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol following a single-vehicle crash Thursday evening, two miles south of Princeton, that resulted in two of his passengers being Life Flighted to a Peoria hospital.
The driver of the vehicle Billy J. Strader, 43, was also charged with driving without a driver’s license and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. The crash took place about 6 p.m. Thursday on 1250 North Avenue, just past the Log Cabin Curve between Princeton and Tiskilwa.
Passengers Steven D. Kiser, 65, of Princeton and Ashley M. Weber, 25, of Ladd were confirmed to have been Life Flighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria. Weber was Life Flighted from the scene, and Kiser was taken by Princeton Ambulance to Perry Memorial Hospital where he was then Life Flighted to St. Francis.
Kiser was the front seat passenger in the vehicle and had to be extracted from the vehicle. The location of Weber, and other passengers, Jonathan A. Buckman, 29, of Princeton and Angela M. Heuer, 44, of Princeton, inside the vehicle was not confirmed.
According to the Bureau County Sheriff’s report issued Friday morning, Kiser was reported to be in stable condition at St. Francis, and Weber was reported in critical condition.
The extent of injuries to Strader, Buckman and Heuer, and whether they were transported to Perry Memorial, were unclear at that time of the report.
In Friday’s report, Deputy Eric Barnes said he arrived at the crash scene at 6:11 p.m. and saw a vehicle, a 2001 Ford Taurus, in the field. Princeton EMS were on the scene and attending to the driver and passengers.
According to the report, the driver turned to talk to a backseat passenger, and the vehicle then went off the road. The vehicle came back onto the road, went into a skid, and then flipped.
On Friday, Bureau County Sheriff John Thompson said the investigation into the crash continues and more details will be released when they become available.
