What a beautiful weekend we had! On Sunday morning, my backyard looked like an Olympic arena for rabbits. No kidding! There were so many jumping, hopping, running ... their antics were fun to watch. OK ... the way they were nibbling on my tulip leaves, small bridal wreath bushes and young red bud trees wasn’t so precious, but nevertheless, it was plain to see they were caught up in the fresh and invigorating moments of spring.

Have you seen or noticed any signs of spring? The Bureau County Republican welcomes your springtime photos to share with other readers. Send your photos along with information about what/who is in the picture to BCR Copy Editor Terry Himes at thimes@bcrnews.com. You can also bring your photo by our office at 800 Ace Road in Princeton, where we can scan the photo while you wait. Questions? Call Himes at 815-875-4461, ext. 228.

Today, Tuesday, is Election Day. I know an election is not a cheap, little endeavor, but I had no idea how very expensive an election is to the county. Check out our Page 1 story in today’s newspaper.

I hope you’re planning on heading to the polls today to cast your ballot. I also hope you’ve done your homework, studied the candidates’ platforms and are able to make an informed decision. In this place in time, our votes are integral to our area’s success. Please vote wisely.

Tonight, make sure you stay apprised of election results by visiting our website at www.bcrnews.com. We’ll be monitoring all the races and updating them as returns come in.

A big thank you to all of the brides and their friends and families who came out to enjoy our bridal expo, “Happily Ever After,” which we co-sponsored with The Cider Mill at A Hundred Acres Orchard and Market in Princeton. BCR Sales Development Manager Pam Marsh said it was a wonderful day, and the perfect setting for those in attendance to start planning their bridal events.

“The staff at the BCR did a great job, and Annette and Spencer (Davis) at The Cider Mill are wonderful to work with,” Marsh said. “Everybody there seemed to have a fabulous time.”

Just for fun ...

Voter: “I wouldn’t vote for you if you were St. Peter himself!”

Candidate: “If I were St. Peter, you wouldn’t be in my district.”

While I understand there’s some rain in the forecast, still try to take some time to enjoy the outdoors. After all, there is only one Spring 2013. And remember ... you are important to me and the BCR.
