Jones is sentenced to two years in prison

PRINCETON — A Spring Valley woman has been sentenced to two years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to the Class 3 felony of aggravated battery.

Sinead D. Jones, 21, entered her guilty plea to the Class 3 felony as well as to two misdemeanor counts of battery on April 5 before Circuit Judge Marc Bernabei.

In addition to the prison sentence for the felony conviction, she was also sentenced to two months in the Bureau County Jail on the misdemeanor battery counts. The sentences will run concurrently. She was also ordered to pay court costs.

On April 19, 2012, a Spring Valley woman reported she had been struck in the face while she was in her vehicle and dropping off an individual during an early morning hour. That person was identified as Jones by a third party. A warrant for Jones’ arrest was issued on May 3, 2012, and she was arrested May 12, 2012.

On May 13, 2012, Jones was involved in an altercation at a Spring Valley tavern, resulting in Jones being charged with battery for that office.

On Aug. 18, 2012, the Spring Valley Police responded to an apartment complex in Spring Valley where police found a victim with lacerations on her head. The victim said she received the lacerations from Jones after being struck with a liquor bottle. Police located the broken liquor bottle and obtained corroborating statements from other witnesses. Jones was placed under arrest for aggravated battery for that offense.

Jones had a prior misdemeanor retail theft conviction in 2011 in LaSalle County and was placed on felony probation for possession of cannabis in 2012 in Cook County.
