PRINCETON — Eight members of American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton filled 34 Easter baskets on March 20 for the veterans in four local nursing homes the Unit serves every month.

Basket items included fresh fruit, special diet treats, snack cakes, cookies, candies, plastic Easter eggs filled with treats, an Easter card made by Kristi Johnson, granddaughter of VA&R chair Clara Pease, and St. Patrick’s socks for the lady veterans.

Also included in the basket was a monetary donation given to the veterans from the “Six Point Program,” one of the many programs of the National American Legion Auxiliary.

This is a yearly event for the Princeton unit and any and all monetary donations are welcome and can be emailed to VA&R chair Clara Pease, 321 Briar Lane, Princeton, IL 61356; or mailed to American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton, IL 61356, Attn: Veterans.
