Brummel wins district FFA award
MANLIUS – Bureau Valley High School Superintendents James Whitmore and Dennis Thompson have announced that Susan Brummel, a member of the Bureau Valley Chapter of the Illinois Association FFA, was selected as District 1 FFA award winner in ag mechanics design and fabrication placement, held March 13 at Geneseo High School.
Brummel is the daughter of Ken and Kay Brummel of Sheffield. She was selected in competition with five FFA members from District 1, which is comprised of five agriculture education sections in northwest Illinois.
Winning the District 1 FFA proficiency award made Brummel eligible to compete in the state FFA Awards Contest at Urbana April 6.
Steps to this award including Brummel winning the chapter and sectional FFA proficiency awards. Other agriculture education and FFA honors won by Brummel include greenhand and chapter degree; she has competed on the livestock, crops and soils judging teams; and she was a delegate at the national FFA convention.
