Princeton library announces upcoming events

PRINCETON — William Shakespeare would have celebrated his 449th birthday this month. The Princeton Public Library will celebrate in his absence at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday with a bit of background on Shakespeare’s life, times and works, and then open the floor to a group reading of some of his memorable sonnets and poetry from his plays (April is, after all, also National Poetry Month).

From 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. April 25, the Princeton Public Library will host a Family Engineering Night for children ages 7 to 12 and their families. The evening will consist of several “warm-up” activities and one or two longer “family challenges” that will introduce basic engineering concepts and introduce participants to how engineers think about problem solving, as well as how engineering plays a role in so many aspects of our lives. Children must be accompanied by a parent or responsible adult. There is no fee to participate, but families should register in person at the library’s circulation desk or by calling 815-875-1331.

The Princeton Public Library will close at 1 p.m. April 26 for a staff in-service.

For more information on library programs and services, visit www.theprincetonlibrary.org. The library is located at 698 E. Peru St. in Princeton.
