Renovations planned for LaMoille District

LAMOILLE — As school board members commented, it’s going to be a busy summer for the LaMoille, Allen, and Van Orin schools this year. This is due to a number of renovations to all three campuses the board approved at their monthly meeting Monday night.

The LaMoille and Allen schools will be getting some carpet and treads replaced. Flooring is considered a safety hazard. Wyanet Carpet won the bid for that work. In addition LaMoille will have the back driveway replaced with a concrete drive and have the gravel work in front of the school redone. Cruz Concrete won the bid to do the driveway, and Bohm Brothers will be performing the gravel work. In addition the existing parking lot at LaMoille will be sealed by Ski.

Both schools will also see a number of windows replaced. Classroom windows will receive priority as these present safety issues as well. The Allen School will be getting the bulk of attention with nearly $40,000 being spent. The unit will spend about half that to replace all old, worn windows in the LaMoille building.

Van Orin and Allen will also be receiving repairs to the boilers.

The board also continued to work on closing the gap in the transportation budget. As Superintendent Colleen Sutton commented, the state has committed to providing funds for 19 percent of the costly expenses. The one item approved was a three-year lease on a smaller, white bus that can be driven by personnel other than designated bus drivers.
