GRANVILLE — Putnam County, with some help from some friends, will host its annual Legends Wooden Bat Tournament, beginning Friday, weather permitting.
Games are scheduled at four area fields Friday and three on Saturday with PC, Hall and Bureau Valley in the mix.
On Friday, Bureau Valley will face Hartsburg-Emdem at 4 p.m. at Massino Field in Hennepin. PC will meet the Storm at 6 p.m. and then take on Hartsburg at 8 p.m.
Across the river, Kirby Park's Foley Field in Spring Valley will be the site for three games, also starting at 4 p.m.; Mendota vs. Sherrard, Sherrard vs, Hall and Hall vs. Mendota.
Games are also scheduled for Maseneli Field in Ottawa featuring Marquette, Aurora Central Catholic and Woodland, and Dickinson Field in Oglesby with Peoria Christian, Illinois Lutheran and Trinity doing battle.
The four pool winners will meet in a single-elimination bracket tournament Saturday at Jenkins Field in Granville to award the champion and second-place finishers. Similar third-place and consolation brackets will be held at Massino Field and Dickinson Field, respectively.
If the weather does not allow for games Friday, PC athletic director Dave Garcia said the games will be picked up in a tournament formant on Saturday.
