BVHS students display winning artwork

Bureau Valley High School senior art students Samantha Krieger (left), and Amber Shipp display their winning artworks in the Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program. Krieger won a gold key for her ebony pencil drawing entitled “Oorah” and Shipp won a silver key for her photograph entitled “Shake Your Body” and a gold key for her ebony pencil self-portrait entitled “Out Of My Face.” The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards program is a national program that honors students’ creative work in art and writing of all genre. The students‘ work was first in competition in the Midwest Regional Competition at the University of Iowa. Gold key winners went to further awards on the national level. The student’s work is now on display at BVHS. Sheila L. Heth is the art instructor at BVHS.
