Maxine Specht

TAMPICO — Maxine M. Specht, 85, formerly of Tampico, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at Prophets Good Samaritan Center in Prophetstown.

Born July 1, 1927, in Tampico, the daughter of Clyde and Mildred (Frank-Brooks) Denison, she married Arnold “Joe” Specht Feb. 10, 1945, in Atkinson. He preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 1992.

She was a member of the St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tampico.

Surviving are one daughter, Paula Gladfelter of Prophetstown; one son, Larry Joe (Krista) Specht of Tampico; four grandchildren, Lori Dixon of Athens, Ill., Bobi Jo Majeski of Prophetstown, Alex Joe Specht of Chicago and Mallory Blair Specht of Prophetstown; two great-grandsons, Jeremy and Joshua Majeski of Prophetstown; two sisters, Terry (George) Blackert of Prophetstown and Helen (Lester) Joynt of Dixon; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and one sister.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Tampico, with Monsignor Thomas L. Dzeilak, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tampico.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday, with a rosary recited at 10, at the church.

Memorials may be directed to Vitas Hospice.

The Garland Funeral Home in Tampico is in charge of arrangements.
