Cemetery cleanup

ARLINGTON — The spring clean-up day at Calvary Cemetery in Arlington will be at 1 p.m. Saturday. Volunteers are needed to prepare the cemetery for the mowing season. All winter grave arrangements will be removed from the graves in accordance with the cemetery rules.

Film series returns

PRINCETON — Three 1950s adventure movies starring former Princeton resident Richard Widmark will be shown this month at the Princeton Public Library. Start times for the Widmark Wednesday film series will be 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, 6:30 p.m. May 22 and 6 p.m. May 29. Admission is free. For more information, call the library at 815-875-1331. Widmark, a 1932 Princeton High School graduate, appeared in more than 60 Hollywood movies from 1947 to 1991.

Veterans workshop

PRINCETON — American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton will conduct its monthly veterans workshop at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Legion post home, 1549 W. Peru St., Princeton. Members are reminded to bring their donations to fill the treat sacks. For information, call chairman Clara Pease at 815-872-0430. Food drive

PRINCETON — The Princeton High School prom premiere will be at 4:30 p.m. Saturday in the school gymnasium. Donations of canned goods will be accepted to help fill the shelves of the Bureau County Food Pantry. All donations will be donated on behalf of the Class of 2014.


PRINCETON — The First Congregational Church of Bureau Relay for Life team will host a yard sale from noon to 6 p.m. Thursday and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday at 711 E. Central Ave. in Princeton. Proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.

Car wash

WALNUT — The Walnut Cub Scout and Boy Scout troops will host a car wash from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 18 in the Citizens First State Bank parking lot. Washes are $5 for cars, $7 for vans. Lunch will be available for purchase. The event is sponsored by Panther Outdoor Maintenance Services Inc. All proceeds will go toward fees for day camp.
