Camp 56 registration will be May 4
PRINCETON — Learning Stage, the newly re-named education committee of Princeton Theatre Group, is announcing the third season of Camp 56.
The full-day performing arts camp, held in collaboration with the Illinois Alliance for Arts Education, will be held June 17-28.
Camp 56 will be open to youth age 8-18 and will meet from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday through Friday with additional dates and times tied to the Festival 56 performances of "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" July 5-15 (with tech runs and dress rehearsals on the Fourth of July holiday).
Camp 56 will provide campers the nuts and bolts of auditioning, improvisation, make-up, wardrobe, stage design, lighting and sound, musical theater, hands-on opportunities in set construction and painting, make-up, props and performing. Returning camp directors, Lisa Gadomski (SunFoundation) and Kirsten Andersen (AmeriCorps), will work cooperatively with a music educator, the cast and crew members of Festival 56, and local theater volunteers.
Camp 56 is open to youth from throughout the area. There is a $80 non-refundable fee for the program which will include costs of insurance, supplies and healthy snacks. A limited number of need based scholarships will be available.
