The Princeton Tigresses went 2-1 in Saturday’s Orion Tournament.
PHS opened with a 2-0 win over Sterling, both goals by junior Michelle Kelly, including an assist by Keyenna Altizer.
Orion scored on a ricochet shot with 17 seconds to edge the Tigresses 1-0.
The Tigresses ended the day with a 6-0 win over DePue. Kelly had three more goals with Maria Vitalle, Lexi Marselle and Brit Hayes all getting on the board. Brianna Barajas, Kim Schlesinger and Erin Makransky all got assists.
“We were very competitive. Only allowed three shots on goal the entire time,” PHS coach Edy Young said.
Kelly, who scored five goals on the day, and Erin Makransky were named to all-tournament.
Princeton 6, Hall 1: The Lady Devils played the Tigresses to a 1-0 game at halftime, before PHS caught fire in the second half. Michelle Kelly scored a hat trick and Vitalle and Marselle, all in the second half with assists by Vitalle, Altzier and Eliza Young.
Michaela Strom scored for PHS in the first half.
“We had a good first half, but lost a couple of players to injury and Princeton was able to take full advantage,” Hall coach Darcy Early said. “Michelle Kelly really was Princeton’s scorer and our defense didn’t keep track of her as well in the second half. We continue to improve and keeper Hope Connor (21 saves) had a really good game.”
