Where in the World — Halberg

The Halberg family — Dick, Sandee, Rich, Sara, Tim, Emily and Spencer — are pictured with a copy of the BCR at the El Yunque Rain Forest. In March, Rich was invited to give a seminar at the University of Puerto - School of Medicine in San Juan so the family decided to take a week for vacation. They toured the Bacardi Rum plant, Old San Juan, the historical fort in San Juan built in the 1500s, El Yunque Rain Forest and Luquillo beach (most popular beach in Puerto Rico). They also enjoyed an evening tour kayaking in the bioluminescent bay that “glows” in the dark. According to Sandee, “This was truly amazing and the highlight of the trip for all of us. There are only five in the world (three in Puerto Rico, and one each in Jamaica and Bermuda) but they are dying out. What a relaxing time. The rest of our time was spent at one of two pools (one salt water, the other regular) or the beach at the resort. The weather was wonderful — in the mid 80s all week no rain although they are very dry. The people were very friendly. Was a shock when we got off the plane back to winter weather in the 20s.”
