DEPUE — An electronic waste recycling event will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on May 18 in the village parking lot, just east of Casey’s General Store. Residents are encouraged to take advantage of the opportunity to dispose of their unused electronic items, which are not accepted in landfills. Items being accepted include TVs, monitors, printers, computers (laptop, notebook, netbook, tablet, desktop), electronic keyboards, video cassette recorders, portable digital music players, digital video disc players, video game consoles, small scale servers, scanners, electronic mice, digital converter boxes, cable receivers, satellite receivers, digital video disc recorders, and anything with a cord or that takes a battery. There is a charge for TVs (a 19-inch is $15, and a larger than 19-inch TV is $25). Items which will not be taken include refrigerators, dishwashers, stoves, air conditioners, dehumidifiers, light bulbs, liquids or items containing liquid, gas motors, hazardous wastes, VHS cassettes and CDs, data tapes, gas cylinders, fire extinguishers and propane tanks.
