PRINCETON – Everett J. Solon, market president of Centrue Bank, recently announced the addition of Michael E. Smith as the bank’s new vice president/regional business development officer.
In his new role, Smith will develop leads and strengthen customer relationships for all areas of the bank’s business including commercial lending, mortgage banking, treasury management, consumer lending and depository services. Smith is located at Centrue’s downtown Princeton office and will serve the Princeton, Peru and surrounding communities.
“For anyone who knows Mike, it’s very apparent that he is extremely proud of his community and willing to do whatever he can to help it grow and thrive,” said Solon. “His passion for his customers and his community are a perfect fit for Centrue, and we’re all extremely excited to have Mike on our team.”
With more than two decades of banking experience, Smith spent the past 16 years at Heartland Bank and Trust Co., formerly known as Citizens First National Bank, where he most recently served as vice president of retail and community banking officer. A longtime resident of Princeton, Smith is active in local organizations including the Boy Scouts, Junior Achievement, Bureau Valley Volunteer Hospice, Relay for Life and St. Louis Church.
“It is clear that Centrue is strongly committed to our local markets and staying true to its community banking roots,” Smith said. “The Centrue family has welcomed me with open arms, and getting to know the employees and customers of Centrue has been a really wonderful experience. This organization has so much to offer, and I am very excited to spread that word.”
Smith holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from St. Ambrose University and has completed the Graduate School of Banking program at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
