Community notes


Wyanet — Wyanet Youth Baseball will host a cookout from 10:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Wyanet Locker. Serving rib eyes, butterfly chops, pork burgers, brats, hot dogs, chips and pop.


LADD — The fourth annual "Texas B.B.Q." will be from 4 to 8 p.m. May 17 at the Ladd Community Building. Menu includes brisket, barbecued chicken, roast pork, baked beans, Cole slaw, potatoes, dessert and beverage. The event is a fundraiser for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation to conduct resarch and support the programs that improve and extend lives of those with Cystic Fibrosis. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 7 through 12, and free for children under 6. Reservations are not necessary, but appreciated. For advanced tickets, call 815-894-2936. The Ladd Community Building is one block west of the bowling alley.

Car cruise

SUBLETTE — The annual Sublette Cruise 'n Show will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday on Main Street in downtown Sublette. Exhibit your antique, class, or special interest car, truck, motorcycle or tractor. There is no entry fee and no judging. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 drawing.

Genealogy meeting

OTTAWA — The LaSalle County Genealogy Guild will meet at 1 p.m. May 18 at the Guild library, 115 W. Glover St. in Ottawa. Judy Rosengren of rual Serena will speak on "Roots and Wings."
