IV Herb Guild to host event on Saturday
PERU — The Illinois Valley Herb Guild will host its annual plant sale and herb faire from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday in the gymnasium at St. Bede Academy.
More than 60 varieties of herbs will be available, from common herbs like basil, rosemary and lavender, to more unusual species such as stevia and borage. For those new to herb gardening, herb guild members and master gardeners from Illinois Extension will be on hand with expert advice.
“Collectively, we have a great deal of herbal knowledge,” said Gwen Bray, herb guild president, “so guild members can help you choose the right plants for the conditions of your garden. Besides, a lot of herbs are low maintenance.”
