Library to host program

WYANET – The Raymond A. Sapp Library in Wyanet is off to see the Wizard with its 2nd Thursday@the Library program at 6:30 p.m. tonight, Thursday.

The program will make all realize that “we’re not in Kansas anymore!”

Wyanet resident and school music director Cindy Martin will share her collection of movie memorabilia and will present “The Story of the Making of The Wizard of Oz.”

The 75th anniversary of the movie is fast approaching; it was first released in 1939. There is much more to The Wizard of Oz than meets the eye. The song, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” is one of the all-time favorites. The characters were well known for other roles, but probably most remembered for this movie, which has been called ‘the most magical movie in Hollywood history.’ Who can forget the Wicked Witch of the West? Everyone was mesmerized by the scene when Dorothy opened the farmhouse door and the movie turned into a Technicolor wonder.

Librarian Linda Kurth said it should be a fun evening for a movie and refreshments.
