Bureau County Tourism Guides are now available

The new Bureau County Tourism Guides have arrived.

The guides list many of the upcoming events happening around Bureau County throughout the year. Once you pick up one of the guides, you won’t be bored the rest of the year. There is something for everyone in the family to enjoy. Look for the guides with a picture on the front of a large multicolored bicycle with balloons and a flag.

Some of the highlighted events include the 5K and 10K running races including the new Princeton Art’s Academy Color Splash Dash on Oct. 5.

Another new event coming up is the Badass Dash on Aug. 31, outside Walnut. This is a adventure obstacle course that runners from 4 years of age up to elite athletes can participate. Prepare to get dirty and have a lot of fun. Individual runners and teams are invited to register in this race which will be unlike any event you have ever been in before.

The tourism guides also feature lots of outdoor events including the Z-Tour Bike Ride on July 20, and information about bird watching, hunting and fishing. Bureau County’s parks, museums and golf courses are also listed. The schedule of events at the Bureau County Fairgrounds and Festival 56 are also featured.

Be sure to check out the centerfold of the guide which has a detailed Bureau County map with all of the county road numbers on it to help you find your way to all of the many exciting areas and activities.

The guides are available at the Prouty Building in Princeton, local banks, gas stations and libraries in each of the villages. You can also get them today, Saturday, at the Princeton Depot during the National Train Day event.

If you can’t find the guides in your community, call 815-794-1512 or see the Bureau County Tourism website at www.bureaucounty-il.com or check out the Bureau County Tourism Facebook page. If you would like to have your event listed on the web page or Facebook page, send an email to kathybctourism@yahoo.com or call the number above.

The Bureau County Tourism Committee meets on the second Monday of the month at 6:30 p.m. at the Bureau County Republican meeting room. If you would be interested in being a part of the committee or have an event you would like featured, stop by or call Kathy at 815-794-1512.
