Doris Peterson

DIXON — Doris V. Peterson, 85, of Dixon, formerly of Amboy, died Monday, May 6, 2013, at Levine-Dickson Hospice House in Charlotte, N.C.

Born Jan. 3, 1928, in Macon Township, Bureau County, the daughter of Howard A. and Agnes (Maddox) Pratt, she married Kenneth H. Peterson March 29, 1947, in Princeton. He preceded her in death on June 28, 1997.

She was a 1945 graduate of Neponset High School.

Surviving are two sons, Gary Peterson of Charlotte, N.C., and Greg Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz.; one daughter, Connie (Harold) Scherer of Pekin; one sister-in-law, Betty Miller of Princeton; six grandchildren, Ashley Peterson Allen of Washington, D.C., Jessica Peterson of Dixon, Michelle Sondgeroth Fogel of Pekin, Chris Sondgeroth of Peoria, Jamie Jordal of Sandwich and Justin Jordal of Texas; three great-grandchildren, Braden and Baylee Fogel, and Alyssa Jordal; and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kathie Willis; two brothers, Lyman and Allen; and one sister, Gertrude Schaad.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Preston-Schilling Funeral Home, Dixon, with the Rev. Frank Brozenec officiating. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Dixon.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home.
