Aaahhh ... I opened the sliding glass door that leads to my backyard deck, and the smell of spring hit me. A gentle breeze brought the fragrant smell of lilacs into my home — the old lilac bush just a few feet away from the deck was in full bloom, sending me back quite a few years to life on my grandparents’ farm, where the sweet scent of lilacs permeated our world in the spring.
Not to be outdone, the bluebells waved gently in that soft spring breeze, causing the tulips, daffodils and bleeding hearts to silently nod their pastel heads. The birds were busy — the squirrels and rabbits too. The hum of somebody’s mower a few blocks away shouted spring’s message. And for a few minutes, I couldn’t think of a better time to be alive.
I hope you embrace this season. I know we’ve had some crazy weather, but it’s absolutely beautiful out right now. Breathe. Exhale. Enjoy.
