Transportation $$$ OK at SVE
SPRING VALLEY — While most other school districts are clamoring to make do with little state aid for transportation, Spring Valley Elementary has enough to last at least until the end of the year.
“I’m about as happy about transportation at this time of year as I can get,” Superintendent Jim Hermes said at Wednesday’s school board meeting.
The fund has about $60,000 in it, which is more than enough to last until the end of the school year. While transportation is good for now, the district did receive some bad news about equalized assessed valuation.
The EAV for the district dropped by about $2 million, which makes it roughly equivalent to the EAV prior to the Walmart Distribution Center going on the tax books. The district is also behind one state aid payment but did receive grant money this month.
