Open house

OGLESBY — An open house to honor Carol McConaghie will be from noon to 3 p.m. June 8 at the Dickinson House in Oglesby. Carol is retiring after 25 years of dedication to the Illinois Valley Youth Symphony Orchestra and 21 years of devotion to “The Music School.” Light refreshments will be served.

Program kick-off

OHIO — The Ohio Public Library will kick off its summer reading program, “Have Book, Will Travel,” on June 1. The program features weekly events and guests through July. After the kickoff on June 1, the program moves to Wednesdays at 3 p.m., with the first program on June 5. Sign-up can be done at the library. All ages are welcome to attend.

Graduation exercises

WALNUT — Bureau Valley North will hold its eighth-grade promotion ceremony at 7 p.m. Friday in the BVN gym. Individual pictures will be from 5:30 to 6:15 p.m. and the group photo will be at 6:15 p.m. All students should be at the school for the group photo even if they do not plan to order pictures. Students who ordered a gown may pick them up when they arrive that evening.

Red Hats event

PRINCETON — The Princeton Red Hats will meet at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Princeton Elks Lodge. The theme will be “Rhinestone Cowgirls.”
