Three Bureau County athletes brought home state medals from IHSA State Track and Field competition Saturday in Charleston.
Bureau Valley sophomore Lindsey Hoffert medaled for the second straight season, placing third in the 1A long jump with a jump of 17-4 3/4. She was the State runner-up last year.
Kewanee's Freya Block, a senior from Neponset, was the 1A runner-up in both the discus (125-3) and shot put (40-4 3/4).
In 2A, Princeton junior Zoe Mead placed third in the 800 meters with a time of 2:17.37.
Bureau Valley 1A Sectional: St. Bede's Steve Gualandri won the 300 hurdles at Manlius Friday. Finishing right behind him to advance were second place Logan Hoffert of BV and fourth place Landon Piccatto on time.
Two jumpers advanced in the triple jump with Piccatto taking first and Hoffert second.
Other qualifiers include Hall sophomore Al Baldonado, who finished strong to place second in the 3200 meters.
Bureau Valley qualified both of its 4x800 and 4x100 relays. The Storm's Kristian Konneck made it on time in the 200 meters with a fourth-place finish.
At Plano (2A): Princeton's Austen Stewart won the high jump (6-3) in 2A competition at Plano.
