Clayton Buettner

MENDOTA — Clayton F. Buettner, 84, of Mendota passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at the Mendota Lutheran Home.

Born May 31, 1928, in Sublette to Raymond and Edna (Geurther) Buettner, he married Lucille Althaus Aug. 25, 1948, in the Perkins Grove Methodist Church. She survives.

He was livestock and grain farmer in the Sublette area during his lifetime.

He was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church, Lee County Pork Producers and Bureau County Cattle Feeders Association. He was a lifetime member of the Farm Bureau and was also a 4-H leader.

Also surviving are one son, Kenneth (Ruth) Buettner of LaMoille; three grandchildren, Jeff (Pam) Buettner, Doug (Allison) Buettner and Tim (Danielle) Buettner; five great-grandchildren, Caden, Reiss, Calli, Elyott and Abygail; one brother, Wayne (Linda) Buettner of Kings, Ill,; two sisters, Geraldine (Harold) Sauer of Mendota and Lois Faber of Mendota; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ralph and Earl.

Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the Merritt Funeral Home, Mendota, with the Rev. Deanna Mede officiating. Burial will be in Restland Cemetery, Mendota.

Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be directed to the Zion Methodist Church or the donor's choice.
