Two-vehicle crash kills Rockford man

A 48-year-old Rockford man died in a two-vehicle crash late Monday night in western Bureau County.

The crash happened around 9:43 p.m. on Interstate 80 near Mile Marker 41, according to a press release issued by the Illinois State Police.

The man was identified as Tzantera Tyler Bach-Dalton. The driver of the second vehicle was Christine Marie Elmers, 18, of Albany.

According to the press release, Dalton’s vehicle was stopped on the shoulder of westbound I-80 when it was struck in the driver’s side rear bumper by Elmer’s vehicle and came to rest in the north side ditch on of the interstate. Elmer’s vehicle came to rest in the westbound passing lane.

Elmers was transported to Perry Memorial Hospital in Princeton, and Dalton was pronounced dead at the scene by the Bureau County Coroner’s Office.

A pending investigation of the accident continues.
