Banking on the past
Manlius Historical Society President Bob Andersen stands in front of the old First State Bank of Manlius’ safe deposit boxes on Thursday during a public opening of the bank. Since 2009, the historical society has worked on the restoration of the old bank, located on Maple Avenue in downtown Manlius. The society’s goal is to get it back to its’ original state before it closed in 1933. Along with the bank’s old memorabilia inside the building, the historical society has included memorabilia of all things Manlius. The bank is open for the public to see and tour 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursdays and Saturdays.
