American Legion Women’s Auxiliary holds meeting

PRINCETON — The District 16 spring meeting was held May 11 at American Legion Post 125 of Princeton. The meeting was hosted by the American Legion Woman’s Auxiliary Unit 125 of Princeton.

District 16 President Marsha Archibald with her officers present, called the business meeting to order at 9 a.m. with a Board meeting held just prior to the meeting. District Chaplain Tina Dungan Lead the group in opening prayer.

All present recited the Pledge of Allegiance, sang the National Anthem and recited the Preamble to the Constitution. Unit 125 President Carol Allicks delivered the welcome.

Cheryl Harmison introduced the guests, did roll call of the officers and read the minutes. Sally Slevin read the treasurer’s report. The District is in good financial condition.

Debbie Hancock judged three entries for the “Create a poppy item, using poppies as the theme.”

Archibald and Dungan performed the memorial service for deceased members. A red poppy was placed into a crystal bowl for each deceased member.

Old and new business was heard while the Nominating Committee Dungan, Barb Elliott and Ellen Lange presented the officers for the new year. Registration report was heard.

A raffle was done from the Ways and Means table items.

Closing prayer was given by Dungan and all sang “God Bless America.” The colors were retired and the meeting was adjourned.

The next district meeting will be Aug. 24 at Brimfield Unit 452. Registration and coffee will be from 8 to 9 a.m. and the meeting will start at 9 a.m.
