KEWANEE — Wilbur G. Motley, 89, of Kewanee died at 8:19 a.m. Thursday, June 6, 2013, in the emergency room at Kewanee Hospital.
Wilbur was born on Jan. 20, 1924, in Kewanee, the son of William and Ruth Otley Motley. He married Mary Jean Goodale on May 6, 1943, in Kahoka, Mo. She survives.
He was a World War II veteran, having served with the U.S. Marine Corps as an aviation mechanic. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Kewanee. He had worked and was retired from the Hillsdale Cooperative grain elevator. He enjoyed boating, camping, fishing, yardwork and going to McDonalds for coffee.
Also surviving are his sons, Terry (Patricia) Motley of Savannah, Ga., Jim (Dorine) Motley of Neponset and Stan (Kathy) Motley of Sandwich; a daughter, Debbie (Charles) Wilkins of Geneseo; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Pauline Sievers.
Services were held Monday in the Rux Funeral Home, Kewanee, with the Rev. Joe Schmidt officiating. Burial was in Evergreen Memorial Gardens with military rites conducted by the U.S. Marine Detachment and the Kewanee Veterans Council.
Visitation was held Sunday in the funeral home.
