The 2013 edition of the IVCH Tennis Classic, which will be played July 5-7 on the tennis courts at Washington Park and Sunset Park in Peru and Hegeler Park in LaSalle.
The tournament has coed divisions for all age groups, including men’s singles and doubles, women’s singles and doubles, mixed doubles, and boys’ and girls’ singles for players age 13 and under and age 17 and under.
Deadline to register is noon, July 2. The entry fee is $12 per person per event. Registration can be done online at www.ivtennisclassic.net.

Olds-Bohm 5K: The fifth annual Nancy Jo Olds-Bohm 5K run/walk will be held July 13, and will carry on the tradition of benefiting local nonprofit organizations. The entry fee is $15 for the 5K and 1 mile memory walk prior to July 1 and the kids fun run fee is $5.

Race registration and packet pickup will be at the Wyanet Memorial Park from 5 to 7 p.m. July 12 and on race day from 7 to 7:45 a.m. The 5K and 1 mile memory walk will begin at 8 a.m. The kid’s fun run will begin immediately following the 5K at approximately 9 a.m.

Fastpitch Church League: St. Matthew’s defeated Bureau Township 17-12 and the People’s Church topped Bunker Hill 9-5 in Saturday night Princeton Fastpitch Church League action at Westside Park. The win was the first for the People Church while BT lost for the first time. Friday’s games were rained out.
Idle Methodist remains atop the league at 3-0 followed closely by St. Matthew’s and Bureau Township at 3-1. Remaining standings are Bunker Hill (2-1), Princeton Bible (1-1), People’s Church (1-3) and St. Louis/Covenant (0-4).
This week’s slate matches Bunker Hill vs. St. Louis/Covenant at 7:30 p.m. Friday with the People’s Church and Princeton Bible at 6 p.m. Saturday followed by Methodist vs. BT.
Manlius Rolle Bolle: Coleen VanKerreBroeck, Mitch Smith and Rob Morey made off with top honors in last week’s Manlius Rolle Bolle League action. Second went to Wilma Anderson, Dan Chapman and Tony Marchand, third went to Anne Marie Chapman, Richard Taylor and Richard Huffaker, fourth went to Donna Ericson and Rod Nelson rolling with two and rounding out in fifth were Elizabeth Sullivan, Michael J. Michlig and Harold Oloffson.
The league resumes play Wednesday in downtown Manlius.
Walnut 5K Run/Walk for ALS: The annual Walnut 5K Run/Walk for ALS Research is July 6. Registration is at 7 a.m. and the race is at 8 a.m. starting at Bureau Valley North Junior High. Registration is $15 before Saturday and $20 after. T-shirts will be given to runners who register before Saturday.
