Kruger, Phillips earn TRAC honors

The Three Rivers recently announced its all-conference baseball and softball teams for the 2013 season.

Bureau Valley seniors infielders McKinley Kruger and Emily Phillips both received first team all-conference honors. Sophomore pitcher Irini Petros earned second team honors and senior Brandi DeWaele and freshman Brandi DeWaele received honorable mention.

Baseball: Amboy’s Tyson Powers, all-conference and designated hitter/utility, was named as the Player of the Year. Erie/Prophetstown’s Jason Orman was the Coach of the Year.

Other first team selections included pitchers Ethan Jones of Fulton, Bill Lee Greul of Morrison and Kenneth Cole of E/P, all juniors, catchers Dayton Ince of Kewanee and Zach Inskeep of E/P, both juniors, infielders Cody Huff of Fulton, Danny Willis of Morris, Jared Richmond and Ruben Garza of Riverdale of Ryan Hicks of Kewanee, outfielders Jason Hoehn of Riverdale, Michael Ely and Colin McGinn of Newman and Brandon McCullough of E/P.

Kruger was the only Storm receiving all-conference honors.

Softball: First team selections included pitchers Sadie Mosher of Riverdale, Allie Wiersema of Morrison and Laura Turnroth of Newman, catchers Chelsea Eads of Morrison and Maitline Andersen of Fulton, infielders Kaitlyn Finneran of Morrison, Clare Kramer of E/P, Sydney Mericle of Riverdale and Mary Alice Oswalt of Newman, outfielders Shannon Finneran of Morrison Laykin Miner of E/P, Micaela McCoy of Amboy and Taylor Young of Riverdale and DH/utility Savannah Mettler of E/P.

ICA All-State: Trey Hannam, a senior from Annawan-Wethersfield, has received First Team 2A All-State Baseball honors from the Illinois Coaches Association. He will also be playing the ICA game at Eastside Center in East Peoria at 5 p.m. Saturday.
