City you live in: Princeton.

Where did you grow up: Kasbeer.

Family: I have a large extended family, many of whom live in the Bureau County area.

Pets: I have a dog named Zack and a tarantula named Charlotte.

Occupation: 4-H Youth Development Program Coordinator, University of Illinois Extension.

What is the last song you listened to: Either “Remember The Name” or “Kenji” by Fort Minor.

What is the last book you read: “Son” by Lois Lowry. I enjoyed reading “The Giver” in junior high, so when the conclusion to the series was recently published, I had to check it out.

What is the last TV show you watched: “Castle.”

If you were stranded on a desert island and could have just one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be: The flatbread and pizza my dad cooks on the grill.

If you were stranded on a desert island and could only take one thing with you, what would it be: I am pretty sure my dog would find some way to follow me to the island. If I could airlift my entire vegetable garden to the island, I would.

What is your favorite local restaurant: There are too many to choose just one.

If someone handed you a million dollars, how would you spend it: I would pay off my car loan, do some traveling, give some to family and some to charity, and save the rest for retirement.

People would be surprised to know that you: Spent a semester of college in New Zealand and studied the Maori language in addition to my biology classes. I can still recite my mihimihi (introductory speech given at a gathering) and sing the Maori and English verses of the New Zealand National Anthem.

What is your favorite thing about the city you live in: Being close to so many places to observe and enjoy nature.

If you could change one thing about your town, what would it be: I would like to see more activities and opportunities for young adults.
