IVCC offers renewable energy course for teachers

OGLESBY — Junior high, high school and community college instructors are invited to enrol in “Introduction to Renewable Energy Topics for Teachers,” a free, graduate-level credit course meeting from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 8-12 in Room C316 at Illinois Valley Community College.

Participants will learn the basics of renewable energy and develop a renewable energy project for their classroom. The two-credit course introduces teachers to renewable energy’s impact, sources and technologies and assists them in developing hands-on instructional modules.

The course was developed by IVCC and will be taught by Jim Gibson, IVCC program coordinator for wind energy and electronics. Graduate credit is available through Quincy College.
