PERU — A new federal directory of medical examiners certified to perform physical examinations for interstate truck drivers now includes Deb Tostovarsnik, an advanced practice nurse who works in the occupational health department at Illinois Valley Community Hospital.
The National Registry of Certified Medical Examiners is a new Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) program. It requires all medical examiners who wish to perform physical examinations for interstate commercial motor vehicle (CMV) drivers to be trained and certified in FMCSA physical qualification standards.
Tostovarsnik successfully passed the test after recently completing training and is now included in the online directory on the national registry website.
An IVCH employee since 2004, Tostovarsnik earned her bachelor’s degree from the Mennonite College of Nursing at Illinois State University and her master’s degree in nursing from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The IVCH occupational health department is open from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. weekdays.
