PRINCETON — Centrue Bank presented a check to Freedom House’s Development Coordinator Michelle Spears in the amount of $3,000 for Freedom House’s event, Walk a Mile In Her Shoes which was held in May. “The staff at Centrue has been amazing,” says Spears. “The North and South Princeton branches both joined together to hold bake sales, a large yard sale, a wear-jeans-to-work day and more. They have just now been able to stop counting the support of their staff and customers as funds have still been trickling in.”

“Walk a Mile In Her Shoes, a men’s march against violence” is an international walk which gives men an enjoyable means of showing support for an end to domestic violence and sexual assault by literally walking a mile in women’s high heels.

Mike Smith, VP/Regional Business Development Officer of Centrue, said, “Centrue Bank firmly believes in and supports Freedom House’s mission which is to provide a safe haven for victims and their children from domestic and sexual violence. Our staff strongly supported this year’s “Walk a Mile in Her Shoes” event by raising $3,000 and participating at the walk. We are fortunate to have an agency such as Freedom House in our communities.”
