Bureau County Chorus will begin rehearsals on Monday

PRINCETON — The Bureau County Chorus will begin rehearsals for its fourth summer season at 6:30 p.m. Monday.

Rehearsals will be in the sanctuary of Evangelical Covenant Church, 24 N. Main St. in Princeton. The rehearsal schedule will be available at this time and at subsequent rehearsals. Members should enter through the southwest door from the parking lot at the corner of Main and Central.

The Chorus will plan to rehearse Mondays and Wednesdays weekly through July, August and early September. The chorus will focus on preparation for the Friday evening concert of the 2013 Homestead Festival on Sept. 13 on the grounds of the Soldiers and Sailors Park. The music selected will be a Disney Medley arranged by Mac Huff.

Gwen Holmes, a 2009 PHS graduate and a recent Olivet Nazarene University graduate holding a bachelor’s degree in music education, will be the guest director during the summer season. Kathy Allen will return as accompanist.

All current and former members and new friends are invited to join the Chorus this summer. The Chorus is an opportunity for interested singers to come together to sing, because they like to sing. Anyone who has completed freshman year in high school though senior citizens (no age limit) are welcome. No audition is required.

The Bureau County Chorus is an organization that has been in existence for many years in the area, with periods of both activity and dormancy. In the summer of 2010 the Chorus was revived and presented three concerts for the inaugural season.

In addition to the Sept. 13 concert, the Chorus will plan to begin rehearsals in October for the holiday concert (date to be announced for December).

Rehearsals will be from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Monday and Wednesday at the Evangelical Covenant Church. For more information, call Kevin Glover, BCC manager, at 815-915-7478.
