Diamond Rays win twice

SKOKIE — The Princeton Diamond Rays have played three games as of press time in the AABC 16 under state tournament at Niles West High School in Skokie.

The top two teams will advance to the regional tournament in Coldwater, Mich., July 17-20.

The Diamond Rays won their first game on Wednesday, lost their second on Thursday and won their third game on Friday.

Friday’s game saw the Diamond Rays beat Morton Grove, 7-4. Zach Friel picked up the win on the mound with Jake Reinhardt recording the save. Top hitters were Jett Wedekind, Reinhardt and Jarrett Olson, all with two singles each.

Thursday’s game saw the Rays lose to Ottawa 8-3. Olson took the loss. Wedekind had two singles.

Wednesday’s game saw the Diamond Rays beat Niles West, 4-3. Reinhardt went eight innings with Olson pitching the ninth for the save. Top hitters were Reinhardt and Olson, who both went 3-4 with three singles each. Tanner Kuhne also went 2-3.
