PRINCETON – Colleen Sissel of Princeton is planning a fundraiser in memory of her husband, Danny, to help benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
The event is set for July 27 and will be held in the lower level of Fitzgerald’s Piano Lounge in Princeton.
“Our goal is to do what we can to help St. Jude’s,” Sissel said. “We all have kids, and you don’t know what you’re going to have to go through. Everything you send to St. Jude’s goes to the research hospital.”
Sissel explained when her husband became ill from a liver disease, they decided to pick an organization to support, and St. Jude’s was their No. 1 pick. Sissel said the fundraiser is her way of continuing to support a good cause with her husband, and she hopes to turn the event into an annual fundraiser.
“I started this with a wing and a prayer,” she said.
Sissel has gathered many generous donations and gift certificates from area businesses to be auctioned off at the event. Raffle tickets are also being sold for a chance to win a completed patio with fire rock. The total prize is worth $10,000. Tickets are $100 each and can be purchased before the event at Guys and Gals Hair Salon in Princeton. The raffle will take place at the event.
The local band 212 is expected to perform at 8 p.m. Sissel said it will be John Munoz’s last gig with the band before he moves to Florida.
The atmosphere of the event will be Harley Davidson themed, and parking will be blocked off in front of the venue to allow for motorcycle parking.
“I just expect a fun filled evening. I think it will be a fun family night and a good excuse to just get out for the night,” she said.
The event is free. Sissel said she wants people to just come and see what’s available and donate what they want.
