Little World Rolle Bolle comes to Manlius

The Little World Rolle Bolle championship played in Manlius Friday with 40 players on hand.

The Little World Tournament is a mixed draw game, which means male and female competitors, who wish to bolle, place their name in a hat, and the committee draws teams of three to compete with each other. If the number of bolders is not divisible by three, one or two teams may require one of their bolders to bolle two bolles to compensate for the missing player.

Top honors went to Allison DeBrock and Dennis Kepner of Manlius and Leon DeDecker of Annawan.

Other top teams were second place Darrell Wallace, bolling with two bolles and Amy Brummit; third place Ann Marie Chapman, Merv Wilson and Tony Marchand; fourth place Coleen VanKerreBroeck, Ben Vandermyde and Tyler DeBrock; and fifth place Lisa Marchand, Kristine DeBrock and Ron Beauprez.

There were 33 bolders on hand for regular-league play last week including two from Canada for warm-up games for the Little World, State and World games. Max Naert, Randy Manthe and Darrell Wallace were the winners and coming in second were Leslea Wallace, Glenn Ryan Hostens and Rob Morey.

Third place honors went to Lisa Marchand, Richard Huffaker and Riley DeBrock, fourth to Allison DeBrock, Rod Nelson and Mitch Smith, fifth to by Coleen VanKerreBroeck, Paul Lanouette and Tony Marchand and in sixth place, Wilma Anderson, Michael J Michlig and Dan Chapma.

BV Booster Color Race: The Bureau Valley Booster Club will hold its Color Race 5K/Walk on Aug. 3 in Manlius. Race time is 8 a.m. from Bureau Valley High School. Tiger Tennis Classic: Doubles play will kick off the 2013 Tiger Tennis Classic at 8 a.m. Saturday at Princeton High School. There will be divisions for men’s open, men’s over 40, women’s, mixed and youth including 14 and under, 16 and under and 18 under depending of number of participants.

Singles play will be held July 27 with divisions for men’s open, men’s 40 and over, women’s and youth.

Fastpitch Church League: United Methodist (4-0) stands as the last of the undefeated teams in the Princeton Fastpitch Church League, defeating St. Matthew’s 9-7 on Friday at Westside Park. Also Friday, St. Matthew’s scored 12 unanswered runs to top Princeton Bible 17-7. St. Matt's now stands 4-2.

In other weekend action at Westside, Princeton Bible put the 10-run rule into affect with six runs in the sixth inning to defeat Bureau Township 13-3 while St. Louis/Covenant beat the People’s Church 17-6.

League standings are UMC (4-0); St. Matthew’s (4-2); Bureau Township (3-2); Princeton Bible (2-2), St. Louis/Covenant (2-4); Bunker Hill (2-4);; People’s Church (1-4).

A makeup doubleheader has been added Tuesday night with Bible playing People’s Church at 6 p.m. followed by Bible vs. Methodist.

Miracles Happen Golf Outing: The fourth annual Miracles Happen III Golf Outing will take place Saturday at Senica’s Oak Ridge Golf Course. The cost is $65 per golfer for the four-person scramble until July 13. Registration after this date will be $75.

Registration begins at noon with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. There will be a chicken dinner followed by awards at 6 p.m.
