Reinhardt, Yankees trip Wyanet for Minor League title

The Princeton Yankees beat No. 1 seeded and previously unbeaten Wyanet 1-0 in five innings to capture the Western Bureau Valley League Minor League championship Sunday in Annawan.

Jamison Reinhardt pitched a complete perfect game striking out all 15 batters. He also scored the lone run for the Yankees.

The Princeton Tigers beat the Princeton White Sox 9-5 for the consolation championship.

C League Softball: Top-seed Annawan outlasted No. 1 Wyanet 16-15 in five innings to capture the WBVL crown Sunday in Walnut. Annawan finished the season undefeated. Wyanet leaped from 11th place to second in one year.

The top six seeds all played out with the Pirates defeating Walnut I 10-7 for third place and Walnut II edging the Princeton Athletics 11-10 for fifth. In other games, the Princeton Cardinals topped Tampico 12-11 for seventh-place, Sheffield beat the Princeton Tigers for ninth place and LaMoille tripped the Princeton Cubs.

B League Softball: Princeton secured the top three seeds for the B League tournament which got underway Monday in LaMoille. The Princeton Cardinals and Tigers met in a make-up tie-breaker Monday with the winner taking the top seed into tournament play Tuesday. The No. 2 seed will play Wednesday along with the Princeton Pirates, who are the 3 seed.

District 20

Minor League Baseball: Spring Valley captured the District 20 9-10 Baseball championship at Mark Sunday, defeating Oglesby 3-1. The Spring Valley All-Stars earn a trip to the Section 5 Tournament in Moline starting Friday.

Junior League Softball: LaSalle beat Peru 12-8 to win the District 20 championship for 13- and 14-year-old girls. LaSalle advances to the Section 1 Tournament it will host.
