BV FFA students compete in Vo-Ag Fair

KEWANEE – The 12 schools in Section III (Annawan, Alwood, Bureau Valley, Cambridge, Galva, Geneseo, Kewanee, Wethersfield, Orion, Princeton, Stark County and Sherrard) held the annual Section III FFA/Vo-Ag Fair. Almost 120 FFA members from Section III exhibited more than 2,600 entries. The horse show took place July 1, at Black Hawk College, Kewanee, with the help of the BHE Equine Science staff member, Aaron Callahan. The Vo-Ag Fair was held July 2 at the Henry County Fairgrounds, Cambridge, with help from Henry County Fair Board member Dwayne Miller.

In the horse division, Nicole Bannick of Bureau Valley was the reserve champion in speed events.

In the beef division, Jessica Loudenburg of Bureau Valley won in showmanship.

In floriculture, Samantha Haney of Bureau Valley was the champion.

Judges for the events were Al VanDeWoestyne (poultry), Keith Richardson (swine), Ryan Butler, (equine), Roxie and Dallas DeShane (horticulture), Mandy Peterson (rabbits), Sarah DeShepper (sheep/goats) and Kevin Larson (beef).
