PRINCETON — The University of Illinois Extension will present The Youth Leadership Certificate Program. This program was created to fill the need that many high school students have when thinking about career development. The program will help prepare participants for entering the workforce through a series of development certificate workshops. Upon completion of each workshop, participants will receive a certificate endorsed by the University of Illinois Extension exemplifying the work-related skills the participant has developed.
The first workshop of the series available is the Professional Leadership Skills Certificate from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 1 and 2 for high school students, ages 15-18. This two day workshop will be held at the Bureau County Extension Office in Princeton. It will consist of four sessions: Real Colors Personality Inventory, Leadership, Professional Development and Workforce Preparation. Participants will learn about soft skills, create a personal portfolio, define professionalism and learn what type of leader they want to be.
The cost is $20 and includes admission, two lunches and snacks and a University of Illinois Extension flash drive pre-loaded with workshop materials. Advance registration is required, contact Caitlin Chrzanowski by calling 815-875-2878 or stopping by the extension office. The registration deadline is 4 p.m. July 30.
